UCLA To Hold Final Football Scrimmage On Saturday
By: UCLA Athletics

April 27, 2000

The UCLA football team will conclude its 2000 Spring Practice this Saturday afternoon (April 29) with Fan Appreciation Day.

For the first time in over two decades, the festivities will take place at renovated Drake Stadium. In the last eight months, over $1 million has been spent to widen the grass infield to support a regulation soccer field and convert the track to the wider European oval with a new surface and new field event areas. A new scoreboard which can be utilized for both track and soccer has also been installed.

The gates at Drake Stadium will open at noon. The team will take the field at 1:00 p.m. At that time, head coach Bob Toledo will welcome the fans and introduce his assistant coaches, who will then introduce the players at their positions.

Following introductions, the Bruins will practice for about one and one-half hours. Included in the practice will be a 30-40 play scrimmage. At the conclusion of the scrimmage, the players and coaches will be available on the field for autographs and photographs for at least one-half hour.

UCLA is also hosting the Festival of Books on Saturday, so football fans should allow extra time to find a parking spot on campus.
