UCLA - UCLA’s leading receiver a year ago, he figures to be the team’s big-play performer in 2000...A gifted athlete, he has demonstrated the ability to make the spectacular catch and make things happen on the field...Possesses excellent quickness, outstanding hand-eye coordination and very good speed...Catches the ball extremely well...Will also contribute as a kick returner...Did not participate in Spring drills because he was playing for the Bruin baseball squad that won a share of the Pac-10 title and reached the NCAA Super Regionals...Appeared in 26 games as an outfielder, batting .235. 1999 - Saw action in all 11 games and led the Bruin receivers with 38 catches for 533 yards ...Starter in six games...Twenty-three of his catches resulted in Bruin first downs...He was at his best vs. Fresno State when he grabbed nine balls for 149 yards to set career marks in both categories...His nine catch performance tied for seventh on the school single-game list while his 149 yards were tied for 16th on that list...His 57-yard catch-and-run set up UCLA's final touchdown of the game...At Oregon State, he made the highlight reel with a one-handed reception made while lying on his back...In the finale against USC, he made five catches for a team-high 88 yards, including two 37-yard receptions...Led the Bruins with 720 all-purpose yards.

1998 - Mitchell missed most of the season due to a fractured right femur suffered in the second game of the season (Houston)...In his varsity debut against Texas, Mitchell made four receptions for 108 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown reception...He also threw a 34-yard touchdown pass, gained 30 yards on a reverse and returned three kickoffs for 78 yards...Suffered a fractured right femur at Houston while returning a kickoff 47 yards in the first quarter...Through hard work, he recovered in time to play 11 snaps against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl...On one of those plays, he tossed a 61-yard touchdown to Durell Price off a fake reverse, his second TD pass of the year.

1997 - Did not see action and has two seasons of eligibility remaining...Did not join the team until early October.

HIGH SCHOOL - Earned three varsity letters for coach Robson at Kathleen High School in Lakeland, FL …?Selected SuperPrep All-American (nation’s No. 12 receiver) and All-State...Named PrepStar All-American wide receiver...Listed No. 94 on the National Recruiting Advisor Top 100...Also named a Cornwell All-American and USA Today honorable mention...As a senior, he made 30 receptions for 530 yards and nine touchdowns in a run-oriented offense...As a junior, he averaged 17 yards per reception and caught eight touchdown passes...Also scored a couple of touchdowns on kickoff returns...Lettered in cross country, baseball and basketball...Basketball team won the 1996-97 State championship.
