The UCLA men's soccer team has added German midfielder Felix Vobejda to its 2013 squad. Vobejda will enter the 2013 season as a freshman and will be eligible to play for the Bruins this fall.
Vobejda hails from Bielefeld, Germany and attended the Kreisgymnasium Halle School in Halle (Westfalen), Germany for eight years. He played his club soccer for Germany's VfL Osnabrück, where he helped lead the club to the Provincial Cup in Niedersachsen, qualifiying Osnabrück's professional team for the German Professional Cup. Vobejda also won the Provincial Youth Cup with the club twice in Northrhine-Westphalia.
Vobejda will join eight other freshmen this fall to make up the consensus No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the nation. UCLA will also add three other transfers in 2013 to give them 12 newcomers for the fall season.
The Bruins are coming off of a 13-3-3 season in 2012 and return six starters off of last year's squad that won its fourth Pac-12 title in five years and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 30th consecutive year. UCLA opens its season in just over two weeks at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Ind. The Bruins will begin the tournament with a match against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. PT before taking on defending NCAA champion Indiana on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 12 p.m. PT.
