The UCLA men's soccer team played its final exhibition match of the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Ventura County Fusion of the Premier Developmental League by a score of 4-0.
Senior defender Joe Sofia got the scoring started for the Bruins in the 18th minute, heading home a Victor Munoz free kick to put UCLA ahead by a goal. Munoz made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute, taking a long ball from junior Leo Stolz, then maneuvering around the goalkeeper and chipping the ball past a Ventura County defender on the goal line for a goal.
Much of the second half was played in the midfield, with the lone scoring chance for Ventura County coming on a penalty kick attempt. The attempt sailed high though and UCLA maintained its two-goal advantage. Sophomore defender Javan Torre added another insurance goal with two minutes remaining in the match when he dribbled from midfield all the way through the Fusion defense, eventually slotting one past the keeper to make it 3-0. Senior Reed Williams added one final goal in the 90th minute with assists from freshman Kevin De La Torre and senior Patrick Matchett to give UCLA a fourth goal and a 4-0 win.
Junior Earl Edwards Jr. played the majority of the match in goal for the Bruins, making three saves.
