Leo Stolz Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
By: UCLA Athletics

After being selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week yesterday, UCLA midfielder Leo Stolz picked up more weekly honors today, being voted the Pac-12 men’s soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

Stolz, a junior midfielder hailing from Munich, Germany, led the Bruins to a big weekend, helping UCLA climb to the top of the Pac-12 standings. After playing 57 minutes in UCLA’s 2-1 win over Stanford on Friday, Stolz scored the game-winning goal against No. 1 California on Sunday. The German midfielder uncorked a twisting shot to the upper right-hand corner in the 70th minute to propel the Bruins to the 2-1 victory over the Golden Bears. Overall, Stolz leads the Bruins with seven goals and 19 points on the season. His 19 total points this year are also leading the Pac-12.

The honor is Stolz’ second-career weekly accolade, with his first coming earlier this year on Sept. 17. It is also the third weekly honor for UCLA this season, as senior Victor Chavez received player of the week nods on Oct. 29. UCLA’s 53 all-time player of the week selections are the most in the Pac-12.

The Bruins improved to 10-3-4 over the weekend with their two wins and are currently ranked No. 1 in the country by Top Drawer Soccer. UCLA is off this week and will return to the pitch on Saturday, Nov. 16 to play San Diego State in the regular season finale at 7 p.m.

Also Nominated: Seth Casiple, CAL.
