Sophomore defender Michael Amick and incoming freshman John Requejo Jr. were both selected to the 21-man U.S. U-20 Men's National Team roster that will compete at the Dallas Cup in Dallas, Tex., as announced by U.S. head coach Tab Ramos today.

Amick, a native of Sunnyvale, Calif., played in 18 matches in 2013 while making 16 starts. Spending the season mostly at center back, Amick played in six of UCLA's seven shutouts, amassing a total of 1,484 minutes to lead all UCLA freshmen. Additionally, he was named the No. 12 freshman to watch in the country by Top Drawer Soccer and helped UCLA earn the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003.

A member of the U.S. U-18 National Team throughout 2012, Amick previously competed for the U.S. at the 2012 Lisbon International Tournament in Portugal and in the U.S. U-18 European training camp, earning caps in friendly matches against the Netherlands U-18 National Team, Borussia Dortmund's U-18 Academy team, Club Brugge's U-19 Team and Feyenoord Rotterdam's U-19 team. In addition, Amick competed at the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team training camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. from Jan. 3-12 earlier this year. He has earned six caps overall with the U.S. Youth National Team.

Requejo will join the Bruins this fall as an incoming freshman as a part of the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the nation. He attended Carpinteria High School (Carpinteria, Calif.) and Saint Stephens Episcopal School (Carpinteria, Calif.) for two years apiece and was ranked No. 2 on College Soccer News’s list of Top 150 Recruits for 2014. Requejo has been an extensive member of the U.S. Youth National Team, playing for the U-14, U-15, U-17, U-18 and U-20 teams. He netted his first career U.S. U-17 MNT goal on June 25, 2012 against Costa Rica at the Copa Saprissa Internacional Tournament in San Jose, Calif. and has earned 38 caps for the U.S. U-17 MNT. He also played for the U.S. at the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Qualifiers and at the 2011 Nike International Friendlies, leading the U.S. U-17 MNT to the tournament championship. In the club circuit, Requejo competed for the Santa Barbara Soccer Club and Real SoCal U-16 and U-18 Academy teams.

The Dallas Cup will take place from April 13-20 in Dallas, Tex. The U.S. is in Bracket C of the Gordon Jago Super Group along with the U-19 sides from Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany, River Plate of Argentina and UANL Tigres of Mexico. Making its fifth all-time appearance at the competition and first since 2010, the U.S. will open the tournament against River Plate at 6:30 p.m. CT in the Cotton Bowl on April 13.
