CUPERTINO, Calif. - A pair of incoming Bruins earned high school honors from Monta Vista High School. Carly Reid was named Matador of the Year, while Reid and Sarah Kaunitz received a Ron Freeman Memorial Scholarship.
The Matador of the Year is selected at the end of each school year and is awarded to the outstanding male and female athlete which represents the best that Monta Vista has to offer: excellent sportsmanship, outstanding leadership and superior ability.
The Ron Freeman Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of the long-time Monta Vista teacher and coach who passed away suddenly of a heart attack on January 21, 2011 after a 30-year career.
