Thirteen Bruins will be heading to Irvine this week for the 2013 U.S. Open (July 30-Aug. 3) at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.
The five-day event kicks off on Tuesday with eight Bruins taking to the pool. Starting things off in the 200 Butterfly are Anna Senko and Noelle Tarazona, followed by Kathryn Murphy in the 100 Freestyle and Lauren Baker and Katy Campbell in the 800 Free. The Bruins also have a team in the 400 Free Relay, which includes Tarazona, Taylor Carlson, Monica Dornick and Jessica Khojasteh.
On Wednesday, Baker, Campbell and incoming freshman Michaela Merlihan take part in the 400 Free. Khojasteh hits the pool again in the 200 Breaststroke, while Jesse Bergman swims in the 200 Backstroke.
On Thursday, a trio of Bruins are scheduled to swim in the 400 Individual Medley, Baker, Senko and Tarazona. Senko and Tarazona come right back in the 100 Fly, in addition to Katie Kinnear.
On Friday, Carlson, Khojasteh and Emily Weir swim in the 100 Breast, while Kinnear is in the 100 Back.
The event concludes on Saturday, as Baker and Campbell go in the 1500 Free and Senko, Tarazona and Arlyn Upshaw swim in the 200 IM.
Preliminaries begin each day at 9 a.m., with the finals starting at 5 p.m. Results can be found at the top of this page on the U.S. Open website link.
