IRVINE -Katie Kinnear and Linnea Mack each advanced to the B Final of the 50 Butterfly on Thursday on day two of the Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Complex.
Mack finished fifth in the B race and 13th overall with an evening swim of 27.08, while Kinnear was two positions back and 15th overall with a 27.35. Each set personal bests during the morning preliminaries, as Mack had the 10th-best time (27.04) and Kinnear was 16th (27.28). Noelle Tarazona placed 21st in the prelims with a mark of 27.40.
A pair of Bruins swam in the 200 Backstroke, but just missed out on the evening finals. Madison White was 18th (2:13.68), while Kinnear placed 23rd (2:14.74).
Nationals continue on Friday, as all four Bruins return to the pool. Kinnear, Mack and Tarazona each go in the 100 Fly, while Mack and White return in the 50 Back.
