NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their 2014 outdoor track & field All-Americans on Monday. The UCLA track and field team was represented by 11 student-athletes on the annual list.
Earning first-team accolades for the Bruins were senior Julian Wruck and junior Kylie Price. Wruck finished second in the discus and capped off his career by earning All-American honors all four seasons. Price was named an All-American for the third straight season on the strength of a career-best third place finish in the long jump.
Second team honorees for the Bruins were redshirt freshman Cody Danielson, sophomore Nick Hartle, senior Matthew Kosecki, sophomore Nicholas Scarvelis and senior Natasha Kolbo. Danielson placed 14th in the javelin, Hartle finished 16th in the 800m while Kosecki garnered All-American accolades in the discus for the second time by placing 12th. Scarvelis finished 10th in the shot put while Kolbo placed 13th in the pole vault.
Zibby Boyer, Brea Buchanan, Alexis Walker and Trinity Wilson all were named honorable mention. Boyer placed tied for 17th in the high jump while Walker placed 19th in the heptathlon. Buchanan earned honorable mention honors for the second straight season in the 100m hurdles while the accolade for Wilson was a career first.
