LOS ANGELES – The UCLA track and field team will have five athletes competing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. The championship meet is a two-day event and will begin on Friday, March 14.

The No. 23-ranked UCLA women will be represented by Kylie Price in the long jump, Kelsey Smith in the 3,000m and Ida Storm in the weight throw. Price is the top qualifier for the Bruins as she ranks fourth in the country with a mark of 21-2. Smith ranks sixth in the 3,000m with a time of 9:04.31 while Storm is seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 70-1.50.

Price is making her second straight appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships as she placed fourth a season ago to earn All-American accolades. Storm is making her third appearance at the meet as she was the runner-up in the weight throw in 2012 and placed 11th as a freshman in 2011.

The men will have two athletes slated to compete in the championship as Mike Woepse will once again take part in the pole vault while Marcus Nilsson qualified in the heptathlon. Woepse sports the sixth best mark in the pole vault with a clearance of 18-0.50. Nilsson is 12th in the heptathlon with 5,665 points.

Woepse is making his third straight appearance in the pole vault. He placed seventh last season and opened his collegiate career with a 14th place finish in 2012. Nilsson earned his third straight entry into the meet as he placed 15th with 5,386 points last season and finished 11th as a freshman with 5,511 points.

ESPN3 will live stream the event and ESPNU will show the championship on tape delay. 2014 marks the first year that the NCAA Indoor National Championships will be held in the Albuquerque Convention Center. The facility was equipped in 2005 with a 200-meter Mondo track and has hosted three USA Indoor Track & Field Championships and two NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.

UCLA is coming off a 16th place finish on the women’s side at last year’s championship while the men placed 52nd. The women have won the indoor championship twice in its history as the Bruins were back-to-back national champions in 2000-01. UCLA has won 25 individual event titles at the meet.
