LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Brittany Moeai had three more hits on Sunday to extend her consecutive hits streak to seven, senior Jessica Hall drove in two runs and junior Ally Carda won her 19th game of the year, as the top-ranked Bruins finished off a sweep of Utah with a 4-1 victory at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins improve to 33-2 overall and 8-1 in Pac-12 play, while the Utes fall to 12-15 and 1-7 in league action.

Carda struck out five in the complete game, allowing a run, four hits and one walk. She had 1-2-3 innings in the first and fifth, striking out a pair in the fifth frame. At the plate, the Bruins had seven hits.

Utah took its first lead of the weekend in the top of the second when Bridget Castro homered to left with one out to put the visitors up 1-0.

In the fourth, the Bruins tied the score. Freshman Delaney Spaulding singled through the 5-6 hole to start the frame, moved to second on a sacrifice by junior Stephany LaRosa, advanced to third on a ground out to short by sophomore Mysha Sataraka and scored on a single to right-center by Moeai.

The Bruins took the lead with a run in the fifth. With two outs, sophomore Allexis Bennett walked, stole second and scored on Carda's double to left-center to make it 2-1 UCLA.

Utah had a chance to tie the score in the sixth, but had a runner thrown out at home. With one out, Kate Dickman doubled to right center and Hannah Flippen reached on a fielder's choice to Sataraka at third. One out later, Castro grounded one to Spaulding at short, but it was bobbled by the freshman, whose throw to first sailed off the protective netting behind first base. Dickman headed home, but Moeai picked up the ball and threw to the plate to LaRosa, who applied the tag to keep the Utes down by a run.

In the Bruins' half of the sixth, UCLA added two insurance runs. With one out, Sataraka walked and was pinch-run for by junior Jessica Amaral. Moeai followed with a single to left, as junior Gracie Goulder came in to run for her. After a tapper to the right side by freshman Gabrielle Maurice advanced both runners, Hall doubled off the right-field wall to score Amaral and Goulder to make it 4-1.

The Bruins travel to Eugene next weekend to face #2 Oregon on Friday, April 4 at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m. All three games will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
