Play in the National Pro Fastpitch League begins this weekend, with five Bruins representing a pair of teams. GiOnna DiSalvatore, Andrea Duran, Amanda Kamekona and Natasha Watley are each members of the defending NPF Champion USSSA Pride, while B.B. Bates begins her first year in the league with the Pennsylvania Rebellion.

DiSalvatore, Duran and Watley each return to the Pride after winning the 2013 Cowles Cup. DiSalvatore, in her fourth year in the league and the second with the Pride, was the 2013 NPF Co-Offensive Player of the Year and All-NPF Team at first base, leading the league with 43 runs batted in, to go with a .329 batting average and 23 runs scored.

Duran is in her fifth year in the NPF, all with the Pride. Twice an All-NPF Team honoree, including at third base a year ago, she hit .355 in 2013, as 11 of her 39 hits went for extra bases (six doubles and five home runs). Duran had 25 RBI and a .545 slugging, hitting a home run in Game 2 of last year's championship series, which USSSA won in three games.

Watley is in her seventh season in the league and has been a member of the Pride since 2010. She led the Pride offense a year ago with a .363 batting average, earning All-NPF honors at shortstop. She had 53 hits and added 42 runs scored, five homers, five doubles, a .514 slugging, a .453 on base percentage and 13 steals.

Kamekona is in her third year in the NPF, having played for the Carolina Diamonds in 2012 and the NY/NJ Comets in 2013, while Bates begins her first year with the league's newest team, the Pennsylvania Rebellion.
