HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Seniors Jessica Hall and Alyssa Tiumalu and sophomore Mysha Sataraka each hit home runs, while Hall tossed the second straight shutout for the 13th-ranked Bruins in a 17-0, five-inning victory over Hampton (1-2) on Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Bruins (2-0), who play Hawai'i later Friday evening (live audio/stats/video), had 14 hits. Junior Ally Carda and freshman Gabrielle Maurice each had three hits, while Sataraka and junior Gracie Goulder added two hits apiece. Sataraka and Tiumalu both drove in three runs, while Carda and Goulder each had two RBI.

Hall struck out seven in the complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits and three walks. While she didn't have a 1-2-3 inning, the senior did strike out a pair in both the second, fourth and fifth frames.

After two scoreless innings, which saw the Bruins leave the bases loaded in the first and a runner at second in the second, UCLA scored nine times in the third and sent 13 batters to the plate. Freshman Delaney Spaulding led off with a walk, stole second and came home one out later on Sataraka's homer to center to make it 2-0. After a walk to Tiumalu, Hall hit an in-between hopper to Hampton's Margaret Wilkins at shortstop, but it skipped into left-center, putting a pair of runners on.

With junior Sam Duran running for Tiumalu at second, sophomore Brittany Moeai grounded a ball to second baseman Danielle Budden, who threw high to second in trying to start a double play. Duran would score from second, while Hall moved to third. Junior Tara Mueller came in to run for Moeai and stole second. Goulder then doubled to left-center to bring home Hall and Mueller to make it 5-0.

Maurice bunted Goulder over to third, but would beat the throw to first for an infield single. Maurice rounded the first-base bag heading for second, but Budden's throw to center fielder Diamond Ponds, who was covering at second was dropped, allowing Goulder to score the Bruins' sixth run. A single to left-center by Carda plated Maurice to make it 7-0, as Carda advanced to second on the throw home. Spaulding then reached on a booted grounder by third baseman Kerissa Burruel, with Carda scoring run number eight and Spaulding making it to second. After a ground out moved Spaulding to third, the freshman would come home on a wild pitch to make it 9-0.

UCLA tacked on eight more in the fourth, sending 12 more to the dish. With one out, Mueller collected her first collegiate hit with a single to center and stole second. After a walk to Goulder, Maurice doubled to right-center to bring in Mueller and get the Bruins to double figures for the second game in a row. Goulder would score on a passed ball to make it 11-0 and a single to center off the bat of Carda scored Maurice to give the Bruins a dozen runs.

A walk to Spaulding put a pair on, and one out later, Sataraka doubled to left-center to score Carda to make it 13-0. The Bruins then hit back-to-back homers, as Tiumalu went to left-center for a three-run shot and Hall bombed one to straightaway center to up the advantage to 17-0.
