EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Ally Carda and sophomore Brittany Moeai each had two hits, while junior Stephany LaRosa hit a three-run homer, as the top-ranked Bruins ended the weekend on a high note with a 6-1 victory at #3 Oregon on Sunday at Howe Field.

The Bruins improve to 34-4 overall and 9-3 in Pac-12 play, while the Ducks fall to 34-5 and 8-1 in league action.

Carda also earned the win in the circle to move to 20-2 on the season, tossing 5 2/3 innings of relief. She struck out four and gave up a run, three hits and two walks. Carda struck out a pair in the fifth and retired the last eight batters of the game. Sophomore Paige McDuffee started, and pitching on a 30-pitch count in just her second game back from injury, tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. At the plate, the Bruins had six hits as a team, with sophomore Allexis Bennett recording the other hit.

UCLA netted the first run of the game in the second. Sophomore Mysha Sataraka reached on a fielding error by Nikki Udria at short, moved to second on a sacrifice by freshman Gabrielle Maurice and scored on a double just inside the third-base bag off the bat of Moeai to make it 1-0.

The Bruins extended their lead three more runs on one swing of the bat in the top of the third. Bennett led off by reaching after a dropped throw by Kailee Cuico at first, and one out later, stole second. Following a walk to freshman Delaney Spaulding, LaRosa crushed her second homer of the weekend and ninth of the season to right to increase UCLA’s lead to 4-0.

The Ducks got on the board in the fifth, but left the bases loaded to waste a golden opportunity. With one out, Udria was hit, Courtney Ceo reached on a bunt single and Alyssa Gillespie was hit. Janie Takeda followed with a bloop single to right in front of the dive by freshman Jelly Felix to score Udria to make it 4-1. But it would be the last base runner allowed by Carda, who retired Alexa Peterson on a strikeout and Janelle Lindvall on a comebacker to end the threat.

UCLA got that run back and another in the sixth. Maurice was hit by a pitch to open the inning, and one out later, Felix walked. One out later, Bennett singled up the middle to score Maurice to make it 5-1. That was followed by a Carda single up the middle to plate Felix with UCLA’s sixth tally.

The Bruins next play on Thursday, April 10 at Cal State Fullerton at 6 p.m. Free audio and live stats will be available at
