LOS ANGELES - Junior Ally Carda broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and also earned the win in relief on Sunday, as the second-ranked Bruins scored all five of their runs with two outs in a 5-2 victory over Stanford at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins improve to 46-5 overall and 17-4 in Pac-12 play, while the Cardinal fall to 29-23 and 4-17 in league action.

Carda moved to 27-3 on the year, allowing a run, four hits and two walks in three innings. Senior Jessica Hall started and struck out two in four innings, giving up a run, two hits and two walks. At the plate, the Bruins had six hits, as freshman Delaney Spaulding recorded a pair, while junior Stephany LaRosa walked four times.

Stanford scored in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. With one out, Kayla Bonstrom and Kylie Sorenson were hit by pitches and Erin Ashby walked to load the bases. Cassandra Roulund followed with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Bonstrom with the game’s first run.

After leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, the Bruins scored twice in the second. With one out, sophomore Brittany Moeai walked and was pinch-run for by freshman Robyn Corruth, who moved to second on a single to left by sophomore Allexis Bennett. Carda flied out to right for the second out of the inning, as Corruth tagged for third, but Bessie Noll’s throw to third short-hopped into the UCLA dugout, as Corruth was awarded home and Bennett advanced to third. Spaulding followed with a double to left-center to plate Bennett to put the home team up 2-1.

Stanford evened the score with a run in the fifth. Bonstrom walked to start the inning, and one out later, moved to second on a passed ball. Two batters later, Noll atoned for her error with a single to left to score Bonstrom and even the game.

In the bottom of the sixth, UCLA scored three times to go ahead. With one out, Moeai walked, but was erased at second when Bennett grounded into a fielder’s choice to short. Carda followed with a homer to left-center, her 11th of the season, to put the Bruins up 4-2. UCLA added another two-out run when Spaulding singled to left and stole second. After a LaRosa walk, sophomore Mysha Sataraka singled to left to bring in Spaulding to make it 5-2.

The Bruins conclude their regular season next weekend in Tempe at Arizona State. All three games, Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m., Friday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m., will air on Pac-12 Networks.
