Head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez has announced the additions of director of operations Sherell Vance and volunteer assistant coach Hayden Maurice to the UCLA softball staff."Sherell comes to us with great experience and respect in the softball community, having assisted in running major events like the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and the National Pro Fastpitch Championship Series," Inouye-Perez said. "She will be a valuable addition to our staff as the director of operations and will assist in all aspects of the program."
Vance has worked with JustSOFTBALL, which provides lessons, camps and clinics to softball players of all ages.
"Although she will not assist on the field, she has great experience as a player, coach and in running camps and clinics of all ages," Inouye-Perez said. "Sherell will be a valuable addition to our staff as the director of operations and will assist in all aspects of the program. We are excited to have her, her husband, Sam, and two children, Berkley (9) and Bryce (7), to join the Bruin Bubble."
Vance replaces Jodie Legaspi-Kiaha, who accepted the head softball coaching position at Orange Coast College.
"Hayden will be a great addition to our staff as the volunteer coach," Inouye-Perez said. "He has a reputation of solid work ethic and possesses great knowledge and passion for the game. He will work with the Bruin outfielders with assistant coach Kirk Walker."
Maurice just concluded his collegiate baseball career at Cal State Dominguez Hills, graduating with his bachelor's degree in public administration. His sister is 2014 UCLA softball freshman Gabrielle Maurice.
"Hayden is a student of the game of softball and is excited to start his career in coaching as a Bruin." Inouye-Perez said.
