LOS ANGELES - Senior Katie Schroeder drove in the Bruins' only run and stole a base on Saturday, but 12th-seeded UCLA saw its season come to an end in a 2-1 loss to Florida State at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional at Easton Stadium. Sophomore Jessica Hall struck out five and sophomore Talee Snow had two hits.

The Bruins finish their season with a 36-20 record, while the Seminoles improve to 47-15.

Five of the Bruin starters had a hit at the plate. Hall (19-14) allowed two runs, four hits and four walks in six innings.

The Seminoles, playing as the designated home team, scored single runs in the first and second innings and they held up. In the first, Tiffani Brown led off with a single to right-center, moved to second on a sacrifice by Shayla Jackson and to third on a ground out off the bat of Mallory Borden. After a walk to Maddie O'Brien, Brown scored on an illegal pitch by Hall to make it 1-0.

In the second, Briana Hamilton hit a one-out homer to center to give the Seminoles a 2-0 lead.

UCLA got a leadoff double by senior Andrea Harrison in the fourth, but could not score. However, the Bruins did get on the board in the fifth. Senior Dani Yudin singled to right to open the frame and was pinch-run for by sophomore Devon Lindvall, who stole second one out later. Snow then smashed a grounder off the glove of a diving Hamilton at third, as the ball scooted into foul ground. Lindvall was held at third on the play, as Snow took second on the double. Schroeder then lifted a high pop up to shallow right. From her second base position, Brown ran into the outfield to make the grab and turned and threw home, but Lindvall beat the tag to put the Bruins on the board.

The Bruins tried to mount a two-out rally in their last at-bat in the seventh. With two outs, Snow and Schroeder had singles to right, as Snow took third on the second single. Freshman Stephany LaRosa then hit a chopper to short, but O'Brien's throw just nipped the Bruin at first to end the game.
