UCLA's Mackenzie McDonald had his run through the men's singles draw halted by third-seeded Alex Sarkissian of Pepperdine, who notched a 6-2, 7-5 semifinal victory over the Bruin freshman. McDonald had not lost a set in four matches heading into Monday's semifinals.
In doubles, UCLA's Dennis Mkrtchian and Clay Thompson suffered a similar fate, dropping an 8-5 loss to top-seeded Roberto Quiroz and Ray Sarmiento of USC in the semifinals. Mkrtchian and Thompson were a 5-8 seeded team in the men's doubles draw.
The lone bright spot for UCLA on Monday came in the consolation bracket, where Seth Stolar took home the title following a 6-7, 6-0, (10-3) victory over Arizona's Naoki Takeda. Stolar began the day with a 6-7, 6-4, (10-3) win over UCSB's Sasha Gryaznov.
