UCLA had two players involved in the qualifying and both players were beaten in the first round. Freshman Nishanth Yamani lost his opening match to BYU's Sterling Galli, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Brendan Wee suffered a 6-0, 6-2 loss to Concordia's Jan Guler. Both Bruin players will team together in doubles qualifying, which begins on Thursday.
The main draw for singles also begins on Thursday. Top-seed Clay Thompson of UCLA headlines a strong contingent of Bruin players in the event. Third-seeded Mackenzie McDonald and No. 5 seeds Karue Sell and Gage Brymer are also in the singles draw, as are Ryoto Tachi, Joseph Di Giulio, Seth Stolar and Michael Guzman.
Thursday's action gets underway at 10:00 a.m. There is no cost for admission to the event.
