Marcos Giron seeks a professional title in Calabasas on Sunday.

Giron, Novikov to Play for Titles on Sunday in Calabasas

Calabasas, Calif. - UCLA will be represented in both the singles and doubles in the final day of competition at the USTA Men's Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas on Sunday, as Marcos Giron is in the men's singles final and Dennis Novikov will be in action in doubles.

Giron, from nearby Thousand Oaks, Calif., is scheduled to take on third-seeded Jason Jung of the USA at 2:00 p.m. at the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center. Giron advanced to the final by upsetting sixth-seeded Mate Pavic of Croatia, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 on Saturday evening. Jung, who played at Michigan, was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over former USC standout Daniel Nguyen.

In doubles, Novikov, who played at UCLA in 2012 and 2013 before turning pro, and partner Connor Smith will be in action in the doubles final against top-seeded Americans Sekou Bangoura and Evan King. That match is scheduled for Noon on Sunday.
