Sell, who was seeded fifth in the main draw, posted two consolation singles wins on Sunday to take the title. He began the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over USC's Eric Johnson in the semifinals. Sell then posted another straight-set victory in the final later in the day, downing Pepperdine's Stefan Menichella, 6-3, 7-5.
Also competing at the Battle of the Bay Classic was freshman Joseph Di Giulio, who lost in the consolation quarterfinals. The Bruins had two players, Ryoto Tachi and Nishanth Yamani, competing at the UCSB Classic in Santa Barbara. Tachi turned in the best result there, reaching the Flight-I quarterfinals in singles.
