Calabasas, Calif. - UCLA junior men's tennis player Marcos Giron posted yet another straight-set victory on Friday to move into the semifinals at the USTA Men's Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas.

Giron lost just five games against his former high school teammate and University of Washington alum Kyle McMorrow, registering a 6-2, 6-3 victory in Friday's quarterfinals. The win sets up a semifinals showdown with sixth-seeded Mate Pavic of Croatia on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center.

Also advancing on Friday was former UCLA player Dennis Novikov, as he and teammate Connor Smith beat Damon Gooch and Roberto Macorca, 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals of the men's doubles draw. They await the winners of the other semifinal, featuring top-seeded Sekou Bangoura/Evan King and Oscar Fabian Matthews/McMorrow.
