Bruins and Bears to Square Off Live on Pac-12 Networks This Friday
A battle of Pac-12 powers will take place at the Los Angeles Tennis Center this Friday, as No. 4 Cal (5-1) heads to Westwood for a 1:30 p.m. showdown with host No. 2 UCLA. This is considered a non-conference meeting, as the league match between these two teams will not be until April 5 in Berkeley. The Pac-12 Networks will carry Friday’s match live (check local listings for channel lineup).

UCLA-Pepperdine Series
UCLA leads the series 52-13. The Bruins won the last meeting between the two teams, a 4-3 win in Malibu last year. With the match tied 3-3, Catherine Harrison downed Megan Moore, 6-1, 7-5 at court No. 5 to seal the win for UCLA.

UCLA-Cal Series
UCLA and Cal know each other well, having played a total of 69 times, with the Bruins owning a 39-30 advantage. The two teams played twice last year, with each team winning 4-3 on the other team’s home courts. Bruin sophomore Kyle McPhillips was the star in UCLA’s win in Berkeley, as she defeated Klara Fabikova, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 at court No. 3 to clinch the 4-3 win for UCLA.

Bruins Reach National Indoor Final
UCLA reached the final at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors for the third year in a row two weeks ago, suffering a 4-3 loss to No. 10 Duke at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. It was a rematch of the 2012 Indoor final, a match the Bruins won 4-0 to claim the school’s first-ever championship at the event. UCLA also played in the final of the Indoors in 2013, suffering a 4-3 loss to North Carolina. The Bruins cruised into this year’s final following wins over No. 17 Texas (Rd. of 16), No. 6 USC (QF) and No. 16 Northwestern (SF).

UCLA Moves Up in ITA Rankings
Following its strong result at the Indoors, UCLA moved up from No. 5 to No. 3 in the ITA Team Rankings. The Bruins then moved up one more spot this week, switching places with Stanford, which is now No. 3. Indoor champion Duke is the No. 1 team in America. Complete team rankings can be found HERE.
