She will face another Cal player on Saturday, as fifth-seeded Lynn Chi awaits Brady in the semifinals. That match will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Ojai's Libbey Park. Brady is aiming to become the second UCLA freshman in as many years to win the singles title at Ojai, following 2013 winner Kyle McPhillips.
Van Nguyen was defeated in the quarterfinals on Friday, suffering a 7-6(1), 6-1 loss to USC's sixth-seeded Zoe Scandalis.
In the main doubles draw, Dolehide and Van Nguyen downed third-seeded Taylor Davidson and Ellen Tsay of Stanford, 8-6 in the quarterfinals. Next up is a meeting with USC's Kaitlyn Christian and Giuliana Olmos on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. That match will also take place at Libbey Park.
In the women's open draw, fourth-seeded Kelly Shaffer of UCLA lost in the second round on Friday to Tanya Raykova, 6-2, 6-0.
