This Week
The No. 7 UCLA women's tennis team (16-4; 7-2 Pac-12) closes out the regular season this Thursday on the road, as the Bruins are scheduled to take on No. 5 USC (20-2; 9-0 Pac-12) at the Marks Tennis Stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Pac-12 Networks will air the singles portion of the match live beginning at 3:00 p.m. Paul Sunderland and Justin Gimelstob will be calling the action. There is no charge for admission to Thursday's match. Live stats for the match can be accessed by visiting USC's LIVE SCOREBOARD.

Last Time vs. USC
UCLA and USC have already met once this season, with the Trojans taking a 4-2 victory over the Bruins on March 8 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA actually won the doubles point but couldn't hold the advantage in singles play, where USC won four of six matches. The Bruins' lone singles point on the day came at court No. 6, where junior Courtney Dolehide downed Ellie Yates, 6-0, 6-3. The win was an upset for USC, which headed into that showdown ranked No. 12 nationally, while UCLA was ranked third. A recap of that encounter can be found HERE.

Bruins Down Ducks, 6-1
UCLA had just one match last week, posting a 6-1 victory over Oregon in Eugene. The Bruins won the doubles point and then took five of six singles matches. With sophomore Robin Anderson out of the lineup, freshman Kyle McPhillips took over the No. 1 position in that match, registering a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Nicole Long. UCLA has never lost to Oregon, owning a 17-0 all-time record. Go HERE for a full recap of that match.

Bruins Check in at No. 7
UCLA slipped one place in the national rankings this week, falling from No. 6 to No. 7. The Bruins have been ranked as high as No. 2 this year (Feb. 19). Robin Anderson continues to be the team's highest ranked singles player, checking in at No. 3 in the country. She trails only top-ranked Lauren Embree of Florida and Sabrina Santamaria of USC. The Bruins' four other ranked singles players are: No. 66 Kyle McPhillips, No. 88 Catherine Harrison, No. 90 Kaitlin Ray and No. 114 Chanelle Van Nguyen. In doubles, Anderson and Skylar Morton are ranked in the top 20 at No. 19. Morton and McPhillips check in at No. 45, while Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez are ranked No. 59.

Ray Returns
After seeing limited action this year due to injury, Kaitlin Ray has once again become a consistent contributor in the singles lineup. The Bruin sophomore, who went 21-1 in dual singles matches as a freshman in 2012, has appeared in the team's last four matches, going 4-0. Prior to her return to the lineup, Ray appeared in just one match in February and one in March. She is currently 15-4 overall on the year (playing mostly in the fall) and 5-0 in dual matches.

Recruiting the Nation's Finest
One look at UCLA's roster this year and it's easy to see that the Bruins have extended their recruiting arm well beyond the West Coast. As amazing as it sounds, Pamela Montez is the only Bruin in the lineup from the state of California. UCLA's remaining top 7 players are all from out of state. They are: Robin Anderson (Matawan, N.J.), Kyle McPhillips (Willoughby, Ohio), Chanelle Van Nguyen (Miami, Fla.), Catherine Harrison (Germantown, Tenn.), Courtney Dolehide (Hinsdale, Ill.), Kaitlin Ray (Little Rock, Ark.) and Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.).

Beating the Best
Sophomore Robin Anderson has played 16 ranked singles opponents this season, beating 13 of them. Her highest-ranked win this season came of Cal's Zsofi Susanyi in the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Intercollegiate Indoors Championships, where Anderson went on to win the title. Her other top 10 wins have come over No. 6 Anett Schutting of Cal and No. 8 Sabrina Santamaria of USC. Anderson, who is ranked No. 3 nationally, leads the team in singles wins with a 26-4 overall record.
