UCLA lost a hard-fought four-game match at USC on Friday night and will now continue a four-match stretch of road contests with a trip to Oregon State and Oregon this week. UCLA will conclude the road swing next Tuesday with a match at Pepperdine. With nine matches remaining in the 2005 regular season, four will take place in Pauley Pavilion including a Nov. 12 appearance by undefeated and second-ranked Washington, and the Bay Area schools traveling to Southern California over Thanksgiving weekend.

Oregon Ducks (11-11, 1-10 Pac-10)
The Ducks lost both matches on the road in the Bay Area last weekend, and have lost 10 of their last 11 matches, all in Pac-10 play. Oregon started the conference season with an eight-match losing streak, including a three-game loss to the Bruins on Oct. 7 in Pauley Pavilion. Oregon's Jim Moore is in his first season as head coach of the Ducks. UCLA holds a 42-1 all-time record against Oregon, and has won the last 36 meetings. Oregon State Beavers (8-6, 4-7 Pac-10)
Oregon State scored a stunning upset on Thursday night, downing then-No. 15 California in Berkeley with a five-game victory. After starting the Pac-10 schedule 1-5, including a three-game loss in Pauley Pavilion where UCLA freshman libero Jordan Smith served 15 straight points in a 30-6 second-game win. The Beavers are currently half a game behind UCLA in the Pac-10 standings. Oregon State is led by first-year head coach Terry Liskevych. The Bruins hold a 38-2 all-time record against Oregon State, including wins in the last seven meetings. Stat Leaders: KILLS- Brittany Cahoon (3.07/game), ASSISTS- Desma Stovall (8.55/game), ACES- Karah Rhoades (0.24/game), DIGS- Karah Rhoades (2.53/game), BLOCKS- Brittany Cahoon (1.12/game).

Banachowski Nears 1,000th Victory
Currently holding a career record of 995-263 (.791), UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski needs just five more wins to become the first Collegiate Women's Volleyball head coach with 1,000 career wins. In his 39th season on the Bruin bench, Banachowski trails only UCLA men's coach Al Scates for wins by a collegiate volleyball coach. Banachowski was an All-America setter for Scates during his collegiate career at UCLA. (Scates holds a career record of 1109-200.) The first women's volleyball coach to be inducted into the National Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mass., Banachowski has coached the Bruins to six national championships, including three NCAA titles.
