SEATTLE - The UCLA women's volleyball team lost a three-game match to second-ranked and undefeated Washington on Thursday night in Seattle, falling 30-24, 30-18, 30-22. The Bruins fall to 9-6 (2-4 Pac-10) with the loss while the Huskies improve to 15-0 (6-0 Pac-10) with the victory.
UCLA out-dug the Huskies 43-38, but were out-blocked 11-6 and notched three aces to Washington's seven in the match. Washington also had a higher team attack percentage, checking in at .305 while the Bruins finished at .082. Washington took the lead early in all three games, including holding the lead throughout game two of the match.
Junior middle blocker Nana Meriwether led the Bruins in the match with 10 kills on 20 attacks for a .300 attack percentage. She also had three block assists to finish with 11.5 points in the match. Blair Socci had a team-high two service aces while Jordan Smith led the Bruins with 10 digs in the contest.
The Bruins will return to action on Friday night in Pullman, Wash., with a 7 pm match at Washington State.
