Sophomore opposite Rachael Kidder (Moorpark, CA/Moorpark HS) of the UCLA women's volleyball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 4-10.
Kidder produced her first-career double-double with career highs in kills (25) and digs (11) to help the 12th-ranked Bruins stop #1 Stanford's undefeated run with a five-set victory on Saturday. Kidder had also set a previous personal-best in kills on Friday with 17 against #7 California. Against the Cardinal on Saturday, Kidder had seven of the Bruins' 10 kills in the deciding fifth set to finish off the upset. The sophomore also led the Bruins in kills in an opening-set victory and a fourth-set win. Kidder added four blocks and an ace. The evening before against California, she had 17 kills, five digs, two aces and two blocks. Seven of her 17 kills came in the Bruins' second-set triumph, as she had no errors in nine attacks in the set. Kidder also paced the Bruins in kills in set three.
For the weekend, Kidder averaged 4.67 kills per set and 1.78 digs per set to go along with six blocks and three aces. On the season, the sophomore is second on the team with 3.12 kps, adding 0.82 dps, 0.55 blocks per set and six service aces.
This is Kidder's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
