UCLA Baseball Honored by California Senate and Assembly Members
By: UCLA Athletics

The NCAA champion UCLA Baseball team continued its championship media tour on Monday, with select members of the team being honored for its accomplishments this past spring with a special presentation on the California Senate and Assembly floors.

The Bruins arrived in Sacramento yesterday morning and met with California Assembly members while touring the state capitol. Both the California Assembly and the Senate then held a special presentation for the group in their respective meetings. After the presentations, the Bruins signed autographs for young fans at a reception before meeting with more California Assembly members and taking a tour of the governor’s office.

After winning the first NCAA Championship in program history in June, the UCLA Baseball team has been recognized by the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Sportscenter, the Dedeaux Foundation and the California government.

The Bruins went undefeated throughout the postseason, making them just the third team in college baseball history to advance through the postseason with a 10-0 record.

UCLA also made history by posting the lowest team ERA in the College World Series' aluminum bat era (0.80 ERA). The Bruins became the first team to complete the College World Series without allowing more than one run in each game.

UCLA finished its 2013 campaign with a 49-17 overall mark. The Bruins' 49 wins rank second all-time in school history (UCLA went 51-17 in 2010). The Bruins tied a school record with 21 conference victories and finished within the top three of the Pac-12 standings for the eighth straight year.
