SAN FRANCISCO – The UCLA men’s basketball team has been chosen second in the Pac-12 Conference’s preseason media poll, as announced at Pac-12 media day on Thursday.

Arizona was selected first in the preseason poll, securing 21 of 23 possible first-place votes. UCLA and Colorado, picked to finish third, each garnered one first-place vote.

Oregon was tabbed fourth, and California fifth in this season’s preseason poll. Rounding out the conference’s remaining seven teams, in order, were Stanford, Arizona State, Washington, Utah, Oregon State, USC and Washington State.

UCLA was selected second in last season’s preseason poll and won the conference’s regular-season crown with a 25-10 overall record and 13-5 conference mark. Arizona was chosen first in the poll one year ago.

Media have correctly picked the conference’s regular-season champion 12 times in 21 tries. Arizona has been correctly selected in seven of the previous 12 times it has been slated to capture the league crown.

UCLA opens its regular season against Drexel on Friday, Nov. 8. Game time in Pauley Pavilion is 9 p.m.

The Bruins will host a pair of exhibition games against Cal State San Bernardino (Oct. 30) and Cal State San Marcos (Nov. 4) in Pauley Pavilion. Both of those contests are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
