Steve Lavin's UCLA men's basketball team returns to Pauley Pavilion on Wednesday (Nov. 15) for the first of three consecutive home games, hosting EA Sports/California Southwest All-Stars in an exhibition contest. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
This will be the Bruins' final exhibition game of the season. On Nov. 1 in Pauley, UCLA defeated Team Concept 118-64, behind senior guard Earl Watson's 21 points and 11 assists, in UCLA's first exhibition game of the year.
EA Sports/CA SW All-Stars are 5-6 overall, winning at CS Northridge on Monday night, 80-78. EA Sports started their fall tour with a 4-1 record, losing only at Oklahoma, but had lost five in a row before Monday night's win at Northridge. Former Bruin standout Kris Johnson, a UCLA letterman from 1995-98, has led the All-Stars, with highlight games of 37 points in a win at Northern Arizona and 27 points in EA Sports wins at Arizona State and Utah. The EA Sports/CA SW All-Stars play at UC Santa Barbara Tuesday night.
Between exhibitions, the Bruins last week traveled to New York City and played in the Coaches vs. Cancer IKON Classic in Madison Square Garden. UCLA placed third in the Classic, losing to Kansas, 99-98 on Nov. 9 and beating Kentucky 97-92 in overtime on Friday for third-place. Watson earned All-Classic honors, averaging 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.0 steals and just 1.5 turnovers for the two games.
After Wednesday's exhibition contest, the Bruins will open the home regular season in Pauley Pavilion, hosting CS Northridge on Tuesday, Nov. 21 (7:30 p.m.) and UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, Nov. 29 (7:30 p.m.).
