UCLA Women's Basketball Invites Fans To Think Pink!

UCLA vs. Washington
Sunday, Feb. 10 - 1:30 pm
Pauley Pavilion

Join the UCLA women's basketball team on Sunday, Feb. 10 as the Bruins "Think Pink" and join forces with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise awareness for breast cancer.

During the Bruins' Feb. 10 game against Washington, which will be televised live at 1:30 pm on ESPN2, both teams will take part in bringing attention to breast cancer awareness. UCLA will wear special white and pink uniforms, while Washington will wear pink shooting shirts during pre-game warmups. Both coaching staffs, as well as the UCLA band and spirit squad will don pink as well.

All fans attending this game are encouraged to wear pink. To help aid the cause, UCLA will give away special Bruin t-shirts promoting breast cancer awareness to the first 500 fans in attendance. Fans can also receive two-for-one general admission tickets by bringing in a special flyer, which can be downloaded HERE.

Following the game, UCLA will hold an online auction of the white and pink uniforms, with the proceeds going towards breast cancer awareness and research.

The WBCA's "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the nation's coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in the communities and beyond. In 2007, it was estimated that there would be over 180,000 new cases of breast cancer. Of these, an estimated 41,000 will die from the disease.

Breast cancer awareness has great meaning to the UCLA women's basketball team and the UCLA Athletics community. Several UCLA players have had family members affected by breast cancer, and UCLA women's volleyball assistant head coach Kim Jagd, who will speak to the crowd at halftime of the Feb. 10 game, is a breast cancer survivor.
