UCLA Athletics Hosts Student-Athlete Career Networking Forum
By: UCLA Athletics
UCLA Athletics partnered with Career Athletes to host the first UCLA Student-Athlete Career Networking Forum on Oct. 22.

Over 120 student-athletes attended the forum, which featured 19 companies and graduate schools from across the country. The event included a national employer panel, professional round table discussions and a career networking segment.

"This is an incredible opportunity to sit down with and get to meet face-to-face with possible future employers," said tennis player Brendan Wee.

In addition to this event, UCLA Athletics hosts quarterly networking nights that feature Bruin alumni.

"Our goal in providing professional development programs are to expose student-athletes to career opportunities, give them the chance to interact with potential employers and learn how to market the unique skill set they develop as a collegiate student-athlete to pursue a job and/or internship," said Associate Athletic Director Ashley Armstrong. "These events encourage student-athletes to build their professional networks and prepare for life after sports."

"These events are really good for getting experiences such as doing interviews and learning about careers and what your options are after college," said softball player Jessica Hall. "Just being able to talk to people and see what it takes to get there is really valuable."

Career Athletes is an online community that aides in the connection of current and former student-athletes and local, regional, and national employers.
