UCLA Athletics continues to earn high marks in the NCAA's Academic Progress Rates (APR), released today by the NCAA for all Division I sports teams for the four-year period between 2009-10 and 2012-13. Once again, all 24 UCLA sports had four-year APR averages above the 930 score the NCAA uses as a threshold for penalties, with 18 of the 24 (75%) averaging 970 or higher.

Each Bruin team earned rates of at least 960, with women's golf receiving a perfect mark of 1,000 for the fifth consecutive year.

"Our student-athletes face rigorous challenges both in the field of competition and in the classroom," said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero. "By embracing those challenges at UCLA, one of the strongest academic environments in the entire country, they have shown that if you set your mind to something, it can be accomplished. Without their hard work and perseverance, as well as the high level of dedication and professionalism displayed by our staff members in academic support services, this achievement would not be possible."

A total of 19 UCLA teams achieved a single-year APR of 970 or better, with five – baseball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's volleyball and women's water polo - earning perfect marks of 1,000.

Both the football and men's basketball team improved their APR from a year ago. UCLA's football team ranked second in the Pac-12 and 14th nationally among FBS schools in multi-year rate (979). The Bruin football team is also second in the Pac-12 with a single-year APR of 986.

A multi-year APR score of 930 is the minimum level of academic success; teams scoring below 930 are ineligible for postseason and subject to additional penalties determined by the NCAA. No UCLA team has ever had a rate lower than the required benchmark since the implementation of the NCAA APR.
