No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team travels to No. 1 Stanford, which is hosting the 2013 Stanford Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 2-3 at Avery Aquatic Center.
All-session passes will cost $25 for adults and $15 for youth and seniors. Single-day passes will run $15 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors.
The Bruins (8-0), hit the road for their third straight tournament. The Stanford Cardinal (5-0), has won its home tournament the past three seasons, capping last year's title with a 9-5 win over UCLA.
Along with the Bruins and the Cardinal, this year's field includes six additional teams ranked in this week's CWPA Varsity Top 20 Poll in No. 4 California, No. 9 San Jose State, No. 12 Hawai'i, No. 13 UC Davis, No. 14 Indiana and No. 16 Hartwick.
The Bruins will open the tournament against No. 12 Hawai'i at 10:50 a.m. on Feb. 2 at Stanford's Belardi Pool. UCLA will conclude Saturday's action at 6:30 p.m. against No. 4 California at Stanford's Avery Pool.
Then on Sunday (Feb. 3), the Bruins will face No. 14 Indiana at 9:10 a.m. at Avery Pool. The Bruins already have an 8-4 win over the Hoosiers on Jan. 20, 2013 in the final game of the Michigan Invitational. In that game, Indiana led 3-1 after the first period. But the Bruins won the second and third periods, 2-0, to take a 5-3 lead into the fourth quarter. UCLA won the final period 3-1, and was led by Emily Donohoe's four goals in the game.
The first, third and fifth place games will all take place on Sunday afternoon. The seeding will be determined on how the Bruins do in Bracket B against Hawai'i, California and Indiana. Group A consists of Stanford, UC Davis and San Jose State.
