Third-ranked UCLA swept arch-rival USC Friday in the regular season MPSF men's volleyball for both teams in Pauley Pavilion.

For the Bruins (20-10, 16-8) the season sweep represented their first two-match sweep of the Trojans (6-18, 6-18) since 2005. Set scores were 25-16, 25-18, 25-15 in 78 minutes in front of raucous season-best crowd of 2,266.

UCLA didn't call a timeout in the entire match, were never threatened beyond the 15th point in any set and trailed only once - 0-1 in the second set. Their attack was balanced - three players recorded eight kills and one had seven, and they hit .432 for the match. The Bruins out-blocked the Trojans 8.5-2.0 and out-served them, 5-1.

Juniors Robart Page and Dane Worley and freshman Trent Kersten each recorded eight kills and all hit better than .400. Junior Spencer Rowe added five kills (.556) and Gonzalo Quiroga added seven, three aces and a block assist for 10.5 points. Setter Connor Bannan recorded 35 assists, a kill, an ace and four block assists.

Micah Christenson led USC with 11 kills and Christian Rivera added nine.

UCLA will meet Pepperdine (14-11, 13-11) on Sat., Apr. 20 in the John Wooden Center in the quarterfinals of the MPSF playoffs.
