Day Two at NCAA Championships

Three Bruins rounded out the weekend at the men's and women's track and field indoor championships Friday in Fayetteville, AR. Allison Koressel set a personal best in the women's pole vault, posting a score of 14-1.25.

Koressel was one of three Bruins who competed Saturday. She placed fifth in the pole vault final, jumping a career indoor best mark (14-1.25).

Marcus Nilsson completed the heptathlon Saturday, taking 14th place (5,386 points). He finished the 60m hurdles in 8.50, the pole vault at 4.60m and finally the 1,000m in 2:41.88.

Brea Buchanan finished the weekend for the Bruins, taking fifth place in the women's 60m hurdles final (8.16). Buchanan also qualified fifth in the preliminary round Friday.

"Today was a huge day for our Bruin women's team. Two athletes finished with season bests during this weekend's championships," Director of UCLA Track & Field Mike Maynard said following the end of the meet. "Our coaching staff has done a great job preparing these athletes for this meet. I'm excited by the future of this team as we move to the outdoor season in the coming weeks."

The Bruins begin the outdoor season next weekend, as they head to San Diego for the Sheraton Mission Valley Aztec Invitational.
