SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team improved to 7-0 on the year with a 10-2 victory at No. 15 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday morning. Freshmen India Forster and Alexa Tielmann led the Bruins in scoring with three goals each.
In the win over the Gauchos (7-2), UCLA had seven different players score goals. In addition to the two aforementioned freshmen, another freshman, Rachel Fattal also scored a goal. Additionally, senior Emily Greenwood, junior Becca Dorst and sophomore Emily Donohoe rounded out the Bruin scoring with one goal apiece.
The first period was a defensive struggle as UCLA ended it with a 1-0 lead. But the Bruins outscored the Gauchos 4-1 in the second to take a 5-1 lead at halftime. The Bruins shut out UCSB in the third period while netting three goals to lead 8-1 at the end of three periods. UCLA finished the fourth period with a 2-1 advantage to win the game 10-2.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Sami Hill, played all four periods, registering eight saves. Ruth Milne was credited with four saves for UC Santa Barbara.
