The no. 5 ranked UCLA Men's Golf team heads north once more this weekend, with their sights on capturing the Transamerica Western Collegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, CA. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by San Jose State University, will take place from Saturday, April 13th, to Sunday, April 14th.
Seniors Pontus Widegren and Pedro Figueiredo will lead the Bruins weekend lineup. Widegren is currently ranked by Golfstat as the 8th best player in the country, with an average score of 70.78 per round, and Figueiredo comes in at 20th nationally. The lineup will also include junior Anton Arboleda, sophomores Manav Shah and Matt Pinizzotto, and freshman Jonathan Garrick. Freshman Lorens Chan and sophomore Jay Hwang will also join the team to compete as individuals.
The field is a challenging one, featuring five teams ranked in the top-10 nationally. Coincidentally, all five come from within the Pac-12: #1 California, #5 UCLA, #6 Washington, #9 Stanford, and #10 Southern California. Other Pac-12 foes competing include Arizona State and Oregon.
The tourney will begin on Saturday at 8:15 AM. All teams will play 36 holes before finishing with a final 18 on Sunday. For exact tee times on Saturday, click here.
