LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's basketball team will play in the 13th annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 28-29, 2013.
UCLA, Missouri, Nevada and Northwestern highlight this year's eight-team tournament field. Each team will play four games in the Las Vegas Invitational, with the first two at on-campus venues and the final two rounds at Orleans Arena.
In regional round competition, UCLA will host a pair of games of the Las Vegas Invitational prior to playing in Las Vegas. The other four teams in this year's tournament include Chattanooga, IUPUI, Morehead State and Gardner-Webb. Matchups will be announced at a later date.
The Bruins return the bulk of their roster from 2012-13, having won the 2013 Pac-12 regular-season title and advancing to the championship game of the Pac-12 Tournament at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. UCLA closed the season with a 25-10 overall record and its second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last three seasons.
Under the guidance of head coach Steve Alford, UCLA's key returners in 2013-14 will include seniors David Wear and Travis Wear, junior Norman Powell and sophomores Jordan Adams, Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker.
The Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational will take place during the third and fourth weekends of UCLA's regular season. Past champions of this early-season tournament have included Illinois (2005), Kansas (2006, 2010), North Carolina (2007), Kentucky (2008), Oklahoma State (2009) and UNLV (2011). Last season, Creighton defeated Arizona State, 87-73, in the tournament's title game.
Hosting more than 200 events each year, Orleans Arena is located just west of the Las Vegas strip and was recently named the No. 1 midsize arena in the nation by Venues Today magazine.
Tickets will be available at the Orleans Arena box office beginning at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 10 (888-234-234 or 702-284-7777) and online by visiting www.orleansarena.com.
