WALNUT, Calif. -- Junior Ida Storm's school record in the women's hammer throw highlighted UCLA's participation on the final day of track & field competition at the 55th annual Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday.
Competing in the Women's Hammer Throw Invite Elite, Storm, a two-time All-American from Nybro, Sweden, was fifth overall (highest-placing collegian) with her record-setting mark of 223-3. It betters the previous school mark of 219-5, set by Jessica Cosby in 2004. Storm's previous best was 218-1 (2012, at the time the No. 2 mark in school history) and her 2013 season-best was 217-1.
Below is the complete Saturday list of UCLA's participation in Invitational Elite events at Mt. SAC. The Bruins now prepare for the upcoming annual dual meet with USC, held Saturday, April 27 on the USC campus.
Men 4x100 Meter Relay Invite Elite - UCLA A (junior Yusef Merriweather, senior Blake Selig, senior Karlton Rolle), 5th overall, 40.34 (second-highest finishing collegiate relay).
Men Hammer Throw Invite Elite - junior Alec Faldermeyer, 7th overall, 225-01 (second- highest finishing collegian).
Men Pole Vault Invite Elite - junior Mike Woepse, 6th overall, 17-6.50 (second-highest placing collegian); UCLA alum Yoo Suk Kim (Korea) won the event (18-4.50).
Men Shot Put Invite Elite - freshman Nicholas Scarvelis, 7th overall, 59-8.25 (PR, fourth-highest placing collegian).
Women Hammer Throw Invite Elite - junior Ida Storm, 5th overall, 223-3 (PR, School Record, highest-placing collegian).
