Jack, a freshman linebacker from Bellevue, Wash., played on the offensive side of the ball for the first time this season, keying a 31-26 Bruin win over Arizona in Tucson on Saturday night and earning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors. He rushed for 120 yards on six carries, including a 66-yard dash for a touchdown to extend UCLA’s lead late in the fourth quarter. That touchdown run was selected as the Play of the Week.
Jack’s rushing total is tied for 10th on the all-time school freshman single-game list, while the 66-yard scamper is the fourth-longest by a freshman in program history.
On defense, Jack had eight tackles, one tackle for a loss of two yards, two pass break-ups and recovered a fumble in the UCLA end zone as the Bruins won in Tucson for the first time since 2003. Jack is now tied for third on the team with a total of 62 tackles on the season along with five tackles for a loss of 11 yards.
