Five Bruins Earn All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES - Five UCLA men's water polo players have secured ACWPC All-America honors, as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches on Tuesday.

Senior Josh Samuels earned first-team All-America acclaim. Seniors Griffin White and Matt Rapacz and sophomore Paul Reynolds captured second-team honors. In addition, junior Chris Wendt was named to the honorable mention team.

Samuels is a Cutino Award Finalist and was named First Team All-MPSF in 2012. He led UCLA in scoring with 68 goals (2.19 gpg), which ranked 11th in the MPSF. He also led UCLA in steals (54) and assists (52) and was also a First Team All-American selection in 2011. Samuels was also an honorable mention All-American selection in 2010.

White was second on the team in scoring with 46 goals (1.58 gpg), which ranked 19th in the MPSF. He was also a First Team All-American in 2011.

Rapacz was a Second Team All-MPSF player in 2012, leading UCLA in saves (237, 9.32 spg), which ranked 10th in the MPSF. His 6.68 goals against average ranked third in the MPSF. He was a Second Team All-American in 2011.

Reynolds finished third on the team in scoring with 44 goals (1.33 gpg), which ranked 22nd in the MPSF. He was a Second Team All-MPSF performer in 2012 and was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2011.

Wendt was sixth on the team in scoring with 34 goals (1.10 gpg). On the year, he drew 22 exclusions and registered 21 field blocks, 19 steals and 16 assists.

The Bruins finished the 2012 season with a 28-5 overall record and finished as the NCAA Runner-up for the second straight season.
