Women's Soccer Hosts BYU in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

No. 18 UCLA (17-3-1, 7-2) women's soccer will host No. 13 BYU (19-4-0) in the second round of the 1998 NCAA women's soccer tournament. The Bruins and the Cougars will play on Saturday, November 14 at 1 pm at the North Athletic Field on the UCLA campus.

BYU defeated Stanford 6-1 in first round action today, advancing to the second round to play UCLA. With the new NCAA tournament format of 48 teams, UCLA received one of 16 byes for the first round.

The Cougars won the only match-up between the two teams, defeating UCLA 3-1 last season.

UCLA is 2-2 all-time in the NCAA tournament and will be making its third appearance in the post-season. In their first trip to the playoffs, the Bruins lost to Washington 2-1 in 1995. UCLA advanced all the way to the quarterfinals last season, knocking off No.7 seed Portland 1-0 and SMU 3-2 before falling to Notre Dame.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the gate and at the Central Ticket Office (310-UCLA-WIN). Price of admission is seven dollars for adults and five dollars for students and youth.
