Los Angeles -- UCLA freshman soccer player Nandi Pryce (Casselberry, FL/Lake Howell HS) was named Thursday to the 15-member U.S. Women's Olympic Soccer Team that will represent the United States at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia this September.
Pryce, regarded by many as one of the top two recruits in the nation as a high school senior last season, was the only player named to the team without any college experience. She will play her first collegiate game later this month when UCLA takes on Clemson in its season opener on Aug. 25.
"We're extremely proud that Nandi has been named as an alternate to the U.S. Olympic Team," UCLA head coach Jillian Ellis said. "It's a great honor for someone to achieve at such a young age."
Pryce has eight caps with the Full U.S. Women's National Team and recently helped the U.S. Under-21 squad, led by Ellis, capture the Nordic Cup title in Weismain, Germany.
