UCLA vs. UC Irvine - UCLA (7-1-1) begins a five-game road trip against UC Irvine (8-0-1) on Wednesday, September 30 at 6 pm at Irvine. The Bruins just edged the Anteaters 3-2 last season in one of the closest games of the season.

Irvine is led by forwards Nicole Bucciarelli (9g, 2a, 20 p) and Stephanie Rigamat (7g, 3a, 17 p). UCLA leads the series record 3-1-1.

UCLA vs. Villanova - The Bruins travel to the Aloha State to play in the Hawai'i Tournament this weekend. UCLA will face the Villanova Wildcats (4-4-1) on Saturday, October 3 at 7 pm Hawai'i time. This is the first meeting between the Wildcats and the Bruins.

UCLA vs. Hawaii - UCLA will face Hawaii (5-1-0) on Sunday, October 4 at 7 pm Hawai'i time in the second match-up of the Hawaii Tournament. UCLA leads the series record 2-0-0, winning the last match-up 2-0 in 1996.

Next Week - UCLA travels north to kick off the 1998 Pac-10 season against Washington and Washington State. The Bruins face Washington on Friday, October 9 at 3 pm and Washington State on Sunday, October 11 at noon. UCLA leads the series record against Washington 3-1-0 and Washington State 3-1-1.

Bruins Take It To Overtime - UCLA played two overtime games this week, the first since November 3, 1996. UCLA just edged the CS Fullerton Titans 2-1 in double overtime on Wednesday. Freshman forward Staci Duncan scored 39 seconds into the second overtime to give UCLA its seventh win of the season. The Bruins were taken to double overtime on Sunday against San Diego but came out with a 2-2 tie. Tracey Milburn and Larisa Kiremidjian both scored for UCLA.

Senior Leadership - Senior forward Larisa Kiremidjian is coming on strong in her final campaign as a Bruin. She was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week last week after scoring two goals in UCLA's 5-1 win over nationally ranked Nebraska. Senior midfielder Louise Lieberman joined her on Soccer America's Team of the Week after scoring UCLA's lone goal in its 1-0 win over Baylor. This is the first time in school history that two Bruins were named to the Team of the Week in the same week. Kiremidjian was also named the College Soccer Weekly Player of the Week last week, becoming the first Bruin in history to receive this honor. She continued her outstanding play this week scoring UCLA's first goal in its 2-2 tie with San Diego and recording an assist in UCLA's 2-1 win over CS Fullerton. Kiremidjian is UCLA's third leading scorer with seven points (3g, 1a) and has moved into fifth place on UCLA's individual career points list with 30.

Leading the Pac-10 - The Bruins lead the Pac-10 again this week with a record of 7-1-1. Duncan is second in the Pac-10 in assists (5), third in points (15) and tied for fifth in goals scored (5). Goalkeeper Lindsay Culp leads the Pac-10 in goalkeeping with a GAA of 0.56. The Bruins also lead the Pac-10 in team goalkeeping (0.53) and team points (56).
