No. 9 Women's Soccer Faces CS Fullerton and San Diego

UCLA vs. CS Fullerton - UCLA (6-1, ranked a best-ever No. 9 by the NSCAA) and Cal State Fullerton (4-3) will face-off this Wednesday, September 23 at El Camino College at 7 pm. The Titans are led by senior forward Dolores Browning (8g, 1a, 17 points) and junior forward Amy Barnes (5g, 1a, 11 points). UCLA has the Titans' number, leading the series record 6-0.

UCLA vs. San Diego - In their last home game before embarking on a five-game road trip, the Bruins will face the San Diego Toreros (4-3) on Sunday, September 27 at 2 pm at the North Athletic Field on the UCLA campus. UCLA defeated the Toreros 4-1 last season and will look to improve the series record to 4-1-1.

Next Week - The Bruins travel south to play the UC Irvine Anteaters on Wednesday, September 30 at 6 pm. UCLA won a close one last season, just edging the Anteaters 3-2. UCLA leads the series record 3-3-1. UCLA then travels to the Aloha State to play in the Hawai'i Tournament. UCLA will face Villanova on Saturday, October 3 at 7 pm Hawai'i time. This will be the first meeting between the Bruins and the Wildcats. The Bruins will then face Hawai'i on Sunday, October 4 at 7 pm Hawai'i time. UCLA leads the series record 2-0-0.

Bruins Handily Defeat No. 17 Nebraska 5-1 - UCLA recorded the biggest win of its season, defeating No. 17 Nebraska 5-1. The Bruins were led by senior forward Larisa Kiremidjian, who scored two goals in the 5-1 win. Kiremidjian put the Bruins on the scoreboard quick, scoring her first goal at only 2:04 minutes into the game. Also stepping up for UCLA was freshman forward Staci Duncan. Duncan, the Pac-10 co-leader with five assists, assisted Kiremidjian on her first goal and scored UCLA's fifth goal. Scoring the game-winner for UCLA was sophomore forward Tracey Milburn. Sophomore forward Venus James notched UCLA's third goal.

UCLA Shuts Out Baylor 1-0 - The Bruins increased their win streak to four after defeating No. 24 Baylor 1-0. UCLA's lone goal was scored by senior midfielder Louise Lieberman in the 45th minute off an assist from Janine Altman.

Defensive Presence - UCLA's defense continues to remain strong this season, giving up only two goals in seven games played (0.29 GAA, best in the Pac-10). The Bruins are tied for second in the nation in shutouts per game and tied for fourth in team defense (Rankings based on games played through September 13). UCLA's goalkeeper Lindsay Culp is posting another excellent season, ranking sixth in the nation and first in the Pac-10 in goalkeeping. On the year, the Bruins have recorded five shutouts and have limited opponents to an average of just 7.4 shots per game.

Senior Leadership - UCLA seniors Larisa Kiremidjian and Louise Lieberman have stepped up this season to lead the young Bruin squad. Both have totaled 27 career points, placing them fifth on UCLA's career points list. Both have scored two goals apiece this season.
