UCLA Heads to Gainesville . . .
The 14th-ranked UCLA women's soccer team (1-1) continues its East Coast road swing this weekend, taking on Georgia this Friday and No. 10 Florida on Sunday. Friday's match will be the UCLA's first meeting with Georgia, which opened its season last week with wins over the College of Charleston and Elon College. UCLA's showdown with No. 10 Florida on Sunday will mark the second meeting between the two schools, as Florida beat UCLA 3-1 at the 1999 Fila Challenge held at USC. Tracey Winzen scored UCLA's lone goal, while Bethany Bogart was credited with the assist. That game can be seen live on the Sunshine Network (G-83, Transponder 13).

Bruins Split at Clemson/Nike Kickoff Classic . . .
The UCLA women's soccer team opened up its 2000 season at the Clemson/Nike Kickoff Classic last weekend in South Carolina. In a very close match, No. 6 Clemson edged the 14th-ranked Bruins 1-0 in the opening game of the Classic on Friday. Clemson scored the game's only goal in the 35th minute and held on for the victory despite being outshot by UCLA 15-7. The Bruins, however, managed to rebound strong following Friday's loss, defeating Georgia State 5-0 on Sunday. The Bruins outshot Georgia State 38-1 and were paced by junior Staci Duncan, who knocked in two goals, and freshman Lyndsay Greco, who notched a goal and two assists. Freshman Sarah-Gayle Swanson and senior Tracey Milburn also registered goals for UCLA.

Ellis, Pryce Selected for U.S. Olympic Team . . .
UCLA head coach Jillian Ellis and freshman defender Nandi Pryce have been selected to represent the United States in its quest for a gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Ellis will serve as an assistant coach on the U.S. squad, while Pryce, the youngest player chosen for the team, was picked as an alternate. Barring injury, she will not be making the trip to Sydney.

UCLA Recruiting Class Ranked No. 1 . . .
The UCLA women's soccer recruiting class was recently tabbed No. 1 in the nation according to online soccer source, Soccer Buzz. UCLA beat out 1999 NCAA Champion North Carolina and Pac-10 rival Stanford, two schools which finished second and third respectively in the recruiting class rankings, for the top honor.

Bruins Ranked in Preseason National Polls . . .
The UCLA women's soccer team is ranked 14th in the NSCAA preseason national poll after finishing with that same ranking last season. The Bruins debuted at No. 8 in the preseason rankings issued by Soccer Buzz and check in at No. 9 in the preseason Soccer Times poll.

Pryce, Milburn Tabbed Preseason All-Americans . . .
Freshman defender Nandi Pryce was recently named a second-team preseason All-American by both Soccer America and College Soccer Online. In addition, senior forward Tracey Milburn a first-team All-Pac-10 selection last season, was named a third-team preseason All-American by College Soccer Online.
