A solid crowd watched the featured match between UCLA and Loyola Marymount, which the Bruins won 15-6. UCLA also won its morning game, 14-3 against Cal State Bakersfield.
In the LMU game, the Bruins scored the first two goals in the first two minutes, one on a 6x5 opportunity by sophomore Kodi Hill. After the Lions scored at 4:42, the Bruins went on a three goal run. Two of the goals were power play scores by senior Becca Dorst and Kelsey O’Brien, respectively. The Lions scored at 0:07 to end the first quarter looking at a 5-2 deficit.
Five more goals in the second quarter and solid defense limiting LMU to no scoring put the game away for UCLA, 10-2.
Nine different players scored for UCLA, led by sophomore Rachel Fattal, who netted a season-high of four goals. Sophomores Kodi Hill and Alexa Tielmann, freshman MacKenzie Barr, and senior Becca Dorst each added two goals.
LMU’s Alexandra Honny scored five goals to lead the Lions.
The Bruins will travel to the UC Santa Barbara Invitational, Jan. 24-26.
